Denmark saved approximately 7,220 of their 8,000 Jews from the Nazis by staging a comprehensive resistance consisting of non-cooperation, strikes, rescue ships, "go slows" in factories, political art, and 538 underground papers. Though the King of Denmark didn't mount a resistance with his army, he and the rest of the citizens openly and defiantly resisted everything the Nazis decreed and were the only country in Europe to save most of its Jewish population. The Danish people, along with the Norwegians, the town of Le Chambon, France, and the Christian wives of Jewish men in Rosenstrasse prison in Berlin, are four of the most well known examples that nonviolence, where it was tried against Hitler, was successful. First she should have used her voice as loud as she could to try and calm down the situation and if that didn't do it, then she should have wrapped her arms around the offending child and with only the slightest force needed, attempted to hold him in place, while loudly telling him she will not let him go because he was being a bully. The fact that she used excessive violence against the child is what landed her in serious trouble here. As a result I don't think that she should get jail time, but I DO think she should receive counseling in anger management and when she completes the course, do a year of community service by helping out as an assistant in a daycare program. Once again a surveillance cam comes to the rescue! I think ALL school plus public city buses and taxis should have cams and I further think that cams on city streets are an excellent way to keep violence at bay. Now while I am not in agreement with most of our President's ideas, when the implications of what those words mean registered in my brain I completely turned around and walked away. In my opinion using her own mouth as a weapon, she has inadvertently brought disrespect not only to her son's memory since after all he had joined the military of his own free will, but to a cause which I believe is far too important to be ignored and should not be pushed to the back of the closet in the face of one woman's lack of rational judgements. It saddens as well as concerns me that she is now aligning her philosophies with a group of people such as Osama Bin Laden, David Duke and and many other well-known people who susbscribe to these very same ugly and bigoted sentiments. I hold all three of these individuals responsible for the barbaric murder of Terri Schiavo who did not die with dignity but without being given the most basic need of sustenance that even a prisoner on death row receives while incarcerated.
